WHO IS A BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN?
As we said earlier, A Christian is someone who just associates with Christ without a divine encounter with Christ (Example is Judas Iscariot); but a born-again Christian is someone who has had a genuine encounter with Christ, repented of his or her sin, and experienced spiritual awakening, but is still in the process of transformation. We can say a born-again Christian is a person who has been converted, but has not fully surrendered everything; he or she is still struggling with one sin or the other, but he is willing to let go of the sin. 2 Corinthians 5vs17, 1 Peter 2vs2
Hunger for God exists in the life and heart of a born-again Christian, but he is inconsistent; he is still struggling between flesh and the spirit. His intense obedience is sincere but selective, and he is spirit-filled but carnally living. 1 Corinthians 3vs1-3. These categories of believers are born-again Christians; they love Jesus Christ genuinely, but they are still negotiating with His lordship over their lives.
Let me ask you another question again: Is your life in Christ changing progressively? Are you a Christian or a born-again Christian? Which one are you?
Let’s take a look at the third level of the believer we have, because the question now is, are you a genuine born-again Christian?
WHO IS A GENUINELY BORN-AGAIN CHRISTIAN?
The attitude and character of many of us called believers in the marketplace (world) has made people shift from asking if you are a potential born-again Christian or a genuine born-again Christian.
A genuinely born-again Christian is one who has experienced regeneration (new nature), he has been transformed (renewed mind), is in submission to Christ Jesus (Jesus Christ is His Lord), and he or she is living a fruitful life (his life is evidence of life in Christ Jesus). A genuinely born-again Christian is a yielding vessel in whom Jesus Christ lives. He or she has been crucified with Christ. Galatians 2vs20, Matthew 7vs16, Galatians 5vs24
A genuinely born-again believer or Christian hates sin; they do not manage sin; obedience flows from love, not from fear in their heart. Holy Spirit governs their decisions, Jesus Christ is their Lord, privately and publicly; they produce fruit, and not excuses. They are dead to self but alive to God.
Let me ask you another question. If you can answer it correctly, that means you are in this category of believers. The question is: Can Jesus Christ trust you with His Name, His Power, and His Glory?
With these three types of the believer’s levels, we have been able to analyze that you must be able to identify where you belong as a child of God. Are you just a believer by association and name (A Christian), or are you a believer by your spiritual awakening (a Born Again Christian), or a believer that has experienced total transformation with evidence of fruit bearing (A Genuinely Born Again Christian)?
CONCLUSION: In Matthew 7vs21-23, our Lord Jesus Christ says, “Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven…” With this statement, Jesus did not deny their activities, but he denied their relationship (their Personality). Sincerely ask yourself: has my heart truly been changed as a believer? Is Jesus Christ my Savior and Lord? Is my Christianity producing a Christ-like nature? The reason for all these questions is that religion will only make you a church member; being born again will make you a child of God, while being genuinely born again makes you a witness of Jesus Christ (God). 1 Corinthians 4vs20. Let me ask you again, what kind of believer are you; and if you don’t know Jesus Christ at all or you are still doing one leg in - one leg out type of a Christian, now is the time for you to experience the transformative encounter we are talking about; come to Jesus Christ today, accept Him as your Lord and Savior, and allow Him to help you through the power and influence of the Holy Spirit to help you purge your life and clean you from sin and the worldly way of life. Come to Jesus Christ today, surrender all to him, and begin to enjoy the transformation experience in the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus loves you.
