WALKING WITH GOD

There has never been such a generation of youth in existence as the present generation that embraces abnormality as the norm. I have once said, the people of Sodom and Gomorrah will have questions to ask God when we all get to heaven because the level of moral decadence among the youths of this generation is higher than that of the land of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Many are the youth of this age that are in the church but not in Christ, many are tongue-speaking brothers and sisters in the church but the fear and the spirit of God is far from their heart. This is the generation that claims to love God, they are in every department in the church but they are not walking with God, they believe so much in logical reasoning than faith reasoning. You see them embracing the service of God but they never agree with God.

As a youth, you need to understand that before you walk with God, you must agree with God (Amos 3vs3). The beginning of walking with God is getting saved. Your salvation gives you the license to walk with God (Luke 12vs31). When you seek the kingdom of God, it means you want to be saved, you cannot be seeking the stage lightening and the paparazzi and think you can walk with God genuinely.

You cannot be running after what God has to offer and still be claiming you are walking with Him; walking with God has to do with being committed to God in all ways, when you are committed to God in all ways, there will be nothing on this earth that will be more important to you again than God and His kingdom (Luke 12vs29-32).

You cannot claim to be walking with somebody that you do not truly love. If you must walk with God as a true child of God, you must love God and the first thing to show that you love God is to give your life to Jesus Christ. To love God is to keep the commandments of God (1 John 5vs2). When you are keeping the commandments of God, it shows that you are ready to walk with God because you love him; this is because, if you love God, you will make him happy.

Walking with God is surrendering your all to him. When you walk with God by loving him, there will be nothing that will be too big that you will not surrender or give to him (Genesis 22vs2-12, Hebrews 11vs17, John 21vs15-17). God told Abraham to walk before him and be perfect (Genesis 17vs1), the act of walking with God is ready to give your all to God including your life because your soul is very important to God than every other thing that you may think of giving to him. When you honour God with your life by surrendering your life to him, he will keep his covenant with you but if you refuse to walk and honour God with your life, that covenant that he had made with you can be terminated. (1 Samuel 2vs30, 1 Kings 2vs4, 1 Kings 8vs25, 1 Kings 9vs4).

If you are walking with God, you need to graduate to the level of being a sacrifice to God, if you become a sacrifice unto God, you will discover that your paramount desire is to please God always in all things. Let me tell you this; when you walk with God, you will become God (Genesis 5vs24).

When you are walking with God, what are the benefits that you stand to enjoy?

• When You Walk With God, God Will Hear And Hearken Unto You Always. Malachi 3vs15-17.

This is an advantage that you will have above your contemporaries as a youth, when you walk with God, he will always give listening ears to you and that means, your movement will be fast-tracked because you have the opportunity to see ahead into the future and because you are walking with God; when others are making a mistake that will be detrimental to their lives, you will be moving freely without mistake because you are hearing from God always. 

• When You Walk With God, You Will Live Above Curse. 1 Corinthians 16vs22. Anathema in the Bible passage above means to be accursed. That is, to be cursed while the Maranatha means the Lord cometh; and Paul was talking to the people in that passage that they should depart from the accursed because the Lord cometh. When you walk with God, there will be no curse or enchantment that will work against you (Numbers 23vs23). 

• When You walk With God, Nothing Will Ever Work Against You. Romans 8vs28. Nothing will ever work against you if you love God and walk with him. You may not understand the happenings around you now but you will discover later that it is for your good. The truth is, in a situation where others will be shouting cast down, you will be shouting lifting up; where others are experiencing scarcity, you will be enjoying a surplus in abundance because you are walking with the Almighty God that owns the cattle upon a thousand hills. 

• When You Walk With God, You Will Be Enjoying Divine Supply And Surprises. 1 Corinthians 2vs9. Your walking with God gives you access to enjoy pleasant surprises from the throne of grace. Walking with God is your license to the supernatural supply because his promise of supplying all your needs according to his riches in glory is only for people that are recognized with him; that is, people that are walking with him (Philippians 4vs19).

• When You Walk With God, You Will Enjoy The Covenant Of Life. Walking with God will make God keep his covenant over your life (Psalm 50vs16, Daniel 9vs4). Your walk with God brings life; and the truth is, not only will you enjoy the covenant of life; the covenant of life will be extended to everything that is connected with you and whatever you lay your hands upon.

We have many examples of people in the Bible who enjoyed the covenant of life all because they chose to pitch their tents with God, they also walk with God and enjoyed the best of God.

CONCLUSION: I have said it earlier that, the beginning of walking with God is getting saved. You cannot walk with God when you hate God; if you know Jesus Christ the savior, you can flow anywhere.

The first step to take if you want to walk with God and start enjoying all the benefits of walking with God that have been stated above, you need to surrender your life to Jesus Christ if you have not done that already. You need Jesus Christ in your life for you to walk perfectly with God; you need to allow the Lord Jesus Christ to take his place in your life because it is when you allow him that you can start enjoying the best.

Walking with God goes beyond going to church, it is beyond being a member of the workforce in your local church; it even goes beyond bearing Christian names. Walking with God is obeying all the commandments and instructions of God, walking with God is becoming a living sacrifice unto God (Romans 12vs1). Walking with God is embracing the love of Jesus Christ (Romans 5vs8). Walking with God is you knowing that when you are yet a sinner, Christ died for you.

Come to Jesus Christ today by accepting him as your Lord and personal savior, and forsake all your sinful ways and you will see yourself growing in the knowledge of God as you walk with him.
