Daniel and the other Hebrew boys; Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego knew that they have to be better than the rest whenever they will be presented to the king, that was why they made the decision they made in that book of Daniel 1vs8. As a Christian youth, much is expected from you, it is expected of you that you are far better than others in all things. Romans 8vs19 says; “earnest expectation of the creature awaits the manifestation of the sons (children) of God”. People are seriously waiting for your manifestation as a child of God, they are even counting days and months for you, and because they are expecting so much from you, you must strive to be better in all things because all the resources that you need to be better have been released unto you by God, the only thing is for you to now tap into that resources that are available.

One of the truths you need to know as a youth, most especially Christian youth is that, all eyes are on you, they want to see your result, and they want to see how far you can go and how better you will be. Do not forget that the prince of the Eunuchs questioned Daniel when he purposed not to defile himself with the king’s meat in a bid to get better than others; the prince of the Eunuchs agreed with them by giving them ten days, that if they did not get better, he will start feeding them with the food they do not want to eat.

You need to be better because the world is touch-lighting you, they want to see what will be your final result; and you can only be better by putting your trust in God and by taking the necessary steps.

HOW TO GET BETTER

  • Embrace God: You need to embrace God if you have to get better in all things because in him there is power and wisdom to be successful in all things (John 15vs1-6). You embrace God by abiding in him and that is when you can bring forth good results that people will be running after but if you do not embrace God, people can rubbish your efforts even when you put in all your best. You need to know God’s factor in all things, which makes them brighter and more attractive. When you embrace God, your little effort will yield a great result (Psalm 3vs5-7).
  • Pray Always: Prayer is the vehicle you ride on in the realm of the spirit to sow the seed of greatness into your life. Prayer will grant you access to beautify whatever you lay your hands on. While others are struggling, prayers give you the grace to be shining. If you must be better than your equals as a child of God, if you must outshine your mate as a youth, you need to know how to soak yourself in prayers.

God’s word says; from the days of John the Baptist that the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force (Matthew 11vs12). If you cannot be violent in your prayer, if your prayer altar is cold, I am not seeing you getting better. If you want to be better, stand up and start praying.

  • Understand People Around You: People around you are also one of the important factors to your getting better. David could be seen as a great man or king because he surrounded himself with egg heads, not with blockheads (2 Samuel 23vs8-12).

It is very important that you surround yourself with good people; people that can help you achieve your purpose in life. People that will ensure that the best in you speak louder, people that will help you get to the throne by sacrificing what they have for you (2 Samuel 23vs15-17).

It is of uttermost importance that you ask God to bless you with the gift of men, men that will be lifting your Moses’ hand up. The kind of people you have around you will determine how far and how better you will be. If you have the right people around you, you will discover that you will just be getting better day by day; but if you are surrounded by the wrong set of people, you will just discover that all your effort is not yielding the expected results.

  • Change Your Thinking Pattern: You need to think beyond your confinement, think beyond your capacity and environment. The Solution to your problems usually comes when you pray and think out of the box. Do not forget what the Bible says in Proverbs 23vs7; for as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.

Your heart is a powerful engine room that determines your achievement. That is why you must always think big and always think about success. If you think in your heart that you will make it and be better, you will surely make it and be better but if you think otherwise, you will surely get the result of your thinking. A good example is Job in the book of Job 3vs25.

Job has been nursing the destruction of his children in his heart even before Satan went to seek permission to destroy all that he had and that was why he made the statement in that passage above that, “for the thing which I greatly feared is come unto me”. Your heart is your room; you must ensure you are positive in your thinking if you must be better and more successful in life.

  • Set Goals: You need to set smart goals; this has to be time bound, it has to be achievable and it has to be in step by step. Daniel set the goal to be better in ten days and he achieved it (Daniel 1vs12-16). Don’t just do things by chance, have plans for your life and set achievable goals that will fast-track your journey in life.

Set goals that are short-term plans, medium-term plans and long-term plans in nature, and as you set the goals, pray to God to help you on them and believe in God for success. Daniel did not only set those goals for ten days, he believed in God for a good result, they prayed to God to breathe upon their goal so that it can come out fine. If you want to be better as a child of God, you need to start setting goals and pray to God to help you achieve your goals by asking for grace and wisdom to achieve them.

  • Take Risks: If you are not ready to take risks, you may not get the expected results. Do you not know that Daniel and his friends in our anchor Bible passage took the risk by not eating the king’s meat and drinking the wine from the king’s kitchen; They endangered the life of the prince of the Eunuchs who was in charge of their meal and principally endangered their own lives also; but thank God that they took that risks because at the end, they came out better than others (Daniel 1vs15-20).

You must encourage risks in your life because if you do not do that, you may not move forward. Risk will take you out of your comfort zone on many occasions. Risk-taking is part of the game to getting better.

CONCLUSION: With all that we have been saying, you will discover that there is no way you can be better in life without God. God is the main key to your betterment as a youth and as a Christian. That is why His word says; “without me, ye can do nothing” (John 15vs15).

The key to being successful in life is Jesus, any success you achieve outside Jesus is just but for a moment. But if you want lasting success, you need to allow Jesus Christ to take the center stage in your heart, you need to surrender the steering of your life to him, and you need to allow him to take the driver seat in your heart so that you can have a successful journey in destiny.

Jesus loves you, He is waiting for you to come into the light so that you can become better and greater than your equals. Give your life to Jesus today and receive the grace to become better with everlasting life. You can be better in Jesus Christ the Saviour of the world.
