The book of Mark 14:3-9 reads:

3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.

4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, why was this waste of the ointment made?

5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.

6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? She hath wrought a good work on me.

7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.

8 She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.

9 Verily I say unto you, wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her. Mark 14:3-9 KJV

Trust in the Lord will trigger us to give all to him, he is able to restore double for single. You cannot hold on to what you have and expect God to announce you to your generation. You can never give your precious desire to Jesus Christ without him giving you his glory to announce you to your generation.

Mary trusted in the Lord. I want to believe she didn’t do it for the great reward attached, she just did it because of her love for the Kingdom’s work. Every sincere person will always attract heavenly attention no matter what he/she does. I have heard about great men and women of God who were no more when I was born, but their impact is still very relevant and felt all around the world.

Memories are better than the present benefit, you just have to spend more time with your family because the memories will last longer than your present life with them. Like I always tell whoever still has his/her father alive to enjoy him while it lasts because time is short. I never realized how wonderful it was to have a father until my father passed on to glory on the 15th of February 2014, I still miss him to date. He was my best friend. We grew from the level of fatherhood to friendship, and the time spent was lovely and good.

In the same vein, your spouse needs your precious time once in a while. When you devote your God-given moment to serving your organization whilst neglecting the relevant impact you should give in your marriage, you will become miserable. Honestly, you will never be here forever. You should make special use of your moment with your family. I once told a Pastor friend who lives in Gombe State (Nigeria) while his family lives in Ibadan, Oyo State (Nigeria); that one of the great mistakes Pastors are making in ministry is giving more attention to other people’s lives and destinies at the expense of their own family.

Simon the leper was rich and he invited Jesus to his house but was very poor in the spirit. Mind you, he wasn’t made whole otherwise He wouldn’t have been called Simon the leper. Our mindset matter a lot and that was the reason Jesus said in his word; “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind, let each esteem other better than themselves. Look, not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:” Phil 2:3-5 KJV

We should trust in the Lord instead of our riches and wisdom because in most cases, riches fail and wisdom disappoint but trust in the Lord brings tremendous blessings. Until you and I understand where we are today and the people we meet just by the grace of God, we may never get to our destination. God has made it possible to read and make your own note in the first chapter of this book. Always remember the confidence you have in yourself and rejoice. Also, forget your confidence and be sorrowful. Our confidence is in the Lord God who made heaven and earth, not your fat bank account, great companies, or position in your nation and community but in the LORD. See you in the next chapter and be blessed in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
