WHO ARE YOU?

This is a very serious question that every child of God must answer with all sincerity; this is because many so-called Christians of today do not know who they really are, they are just bearing Christian names without knowing their place in Christ Jesus. It is like a cliché.

The seven sons of Sceva were asked the same question in the book of Acts 19vs13-16 – Who are you? The sons of sceva went on a mission to deliver a man possessed by evil spirits. While they were addressing this, the spirit understood that these ones had no root in Christ Jesus. The spirit knew that they were imposters and have misplaced identities. That was why the spirit had to tell them that ‘Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?’

Yes, you go to church, and you are even a worker in the vineyard of God but the questions remain;

Who are you in Christ Jesus?

Do you have an identity in Jesus Christ?

Do you really know your stand or place in Christ Jesus?

I asked you all these questions because it is until you have the knowledge and understanding of your place in Christ Jesus before you can do great exploits.

1 Peter 2vs9 says; “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praise of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light”.

You are not a child of mistake, you are loved and chosen by God. You are a priest unto God; you are an ambassador for Jesus Christ, a light to illuminate the world. It is until you start walking and working in this consciousness that the world can really know who you really are.

Do you know that it is possible for someone to be something without knowing? It is possible for someone to carry an identity without understanding the meaning and capacity of such an identity. A police officer that carries the emblem of his authority will never beg to arrest a criminal. A traffic warden will never beg vehicles to stop. Once he raises up his hand indicating stop, all vehicle movements will stop because he knows his identity and the authority he carries.

Let me open your eyes to who you really are in Christ Jesus as we will be looking at the first chapter of the book of Ephesians and maybe some part of the second chapter also. Who are you?

1.   YOU ARE A CARRIER OF SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS: “The Bible says; blessed be the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.” Ephesians 1vs3.

Do you know that immediately you surrender your life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, you have been ordained with the spiritual blessings, you become a different person entirely. You are now carrying the authority and power that is embedded in the name of Jesus because you are carrying the identity of God and you know that you are the express image and child of God. You will be made a thousand times more than what you can imagine. Deuteronomy 1vs11. If anyone asks who you really are now, I believe you now have the right response to give them as a true child of God. Your response will be; I am a carrier of spiritual blessings because God says so. 

2.   YOU ARE THE CHOSEN OF GOD: Because you are the chosen of God, no power of darkness (enemies) should have dominion over you again. Ephesians 1vs4.

1 Peter 1vs2 says; You are elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. You are a chosen personality, you are not an ordinary person; you are holy and clean in and out. Luke 1vs75.

This should be your testimony because that is who you really are now in Christ Jesus. The Father chose and ordained you even before the foundation of the world. 1 Peter 1vs20. If you are being asked, who are you? Your response should be; I am the chosen of God.

3.   YOU ARE GOD’S PRAISER: Ephesians 1vs5-6, “Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will; to the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved”.

You need to let the world know that sometimes ago, you were in darkness, you were living in sin but now, you are God’s adopted child whom he had chosen to sing His Praise to the world and tell of His marvelous works. You are a child of God, because you have received Him as your Lord and Savior, you are no more living in sin. You have been called into the family of God to sing His Praise. John 1vs12, Romans 8vs29, Romans 3vs24, Isaiah 43vs21. You are not just anybody, you are a child of God and that should be your testimony. You are the redeemed of the Lord. Ephesians 1vs7.

4.   YOU ARE A GOD: You need to start walking in that consciousness that you are god. Psalm 82vs6, John 10vs34. This is the testimony of our Lord Jesus Christ about you. You are not a natural being but a supernatural being and you need to start working and walking in the light of that knowledge. You are the head of power and all principalities because you have been made to sit with Christ Jesus in heavenly places. Ephesians 2vs6, Ephesians 1vs3.

It is until when you start putting all this knowledge into action that you can really exercise your rightful place and the power that you have in Christ Jesus. Enough of allowing the power of darkness and the world to short-change you due to your ignorance. But now that you know who you are, arise and exercise the power and dominion that God has given you.

You have the power to create, you have the power to heal, you have the power to multiply, and you have the power to set the captive free. Isaiah 61vs1-3. You have the power to dominate and rule your world. Genesis 1vs28.

CONCLUSION: The sons of Sceva met their waterloo because they only know Jesus but Jesus did not recognize them. Do you know that you may be calling the name of Jesus while you are not known by Jesus Christ? Your name may be in your church register but missing in the book of life. Matthew 7vs21-23.

Let God through the Holy Spirit do an x-ray of your life to know maybe you are still in Christ, to know if you are truly a child of God, to know if you are truly what you say you are; and if you are not, amend your ways today, come back home to your first love before it will be too late. In case you have not known Jesus at all, the opportunity is now, do not miss this chance; Jesus loves you and He wants you to reign with him on the last day.

Come to him today, forsake your sins, ask him to wash you clean with His blood, and let Him be your Lord as you surrender your all to Him. You can also enjoy all the privileges and blessings that have been mentioned above peradventure you allow Him to take over the Lordship of your life by recognizing Him as your Lord and Savior and living holy for God. Not forgetting to live in peace with all men. Hebrew 12vs14. God bless you.
