YOU NEED POWER – Part 1

The issue among the nations of the world is the fight for power; every nation wants to become a superpower nation, and we can trace the traits back to every segment of human endeavor; everybody is fighting to get power and to retain power for themselves.  

The struggle for power is now the order of the day; people are now contesting for political power, many are fighting for economic power, some are struggling for technological power, and some people are running to get financial power.  

Our Lord Jesus Christ understood the importance of power, and that was the reason he had to inform his disciples in the book of Acts 1vs8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnessed unto me both in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”. Lord Jesus knows that no man will be able to achieve anything meaningful in this world without power. The Almighty Himself (Jesus Christ) could not perform any miracle while he was here on earth not until he received power from above. Matthew 3vs13-17, Luke 3vs20-23. 

The truth you need to know today is that, for you to get to the top of your purpose and career in life, you will need power. Also, for you to sustain or maintain your success story in life, you need power. That position you obtained, you need power to get it. 

World powers understand this, the reason why they are doing everything humanly possible to maintain and hold on to the seat of power. For instance, many crisis that is being experienced in nations of the world today as a result of fighting for power; because the big ones (developed nations) want to continue to control the small ones (developing nations). For example, if you go to many African Nations, you will discover that many of their leaders do not want to leave their seats because it is an avenue for them to continue oppressing the poor in order for them to continually siphon the milk that belongs to everybody.  

You as a child of God, and as a young person, for as much as you also need all the powers mentioned above (political power, academic power, social power, financial power, economic power, technology power, etc.) you need to seek for the spiritual power (power of God) first because in this world we are in, the spiritual controls the physical. The word of God says “Seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”. Matthew 6vs33. To seek first the kingdom of God is to get the power and validation from God first as a child of God and every other thing (other powers) will now be given to you.  

If you are willing and wish to gain financial power, academic power, or whatever, you need the power of God first. You may be looking at yourself that you are living like a slave in your father's land today; it is because you have not received power. You are living like an orphan while you have God the Father as your father, this is because you have not truly tapped into the source of true power that is available.  

WHY DO YOU NEED POWER? 

(1)   If you must be successful in life, you need power. Daniel 1vs17-21.

Do you know that true success lies in wisdom, knowledge, skills, and understanding? The Bible passage above says Daniel and the three others were found with all these. Verse seventeen says, God gave them knowledge and skills in all learning and wisdom. When you look at it now in our own world, it is people who are skilled in learning, people who operate in wisdom and knowledge that are ruling the world.  

If you must be successful and maintain your success, you need the power of God, God has to envelop your life with supernatural power in order for you to begin to operate above the natural man. Daniel in the bible outlived many kings. That is, he reigned with many kings, he was so relevant that king after king sorted for his expatriate because of what God had deposited into his life through the manifestation of the power of God in him. If you must be successful in life, you need power.  

(2)  If you must overcome the power of darkness, you need power. 1 Kings 18vs27-38.

The civilization and technological advancements in our world today have made many of us forget that there are spiritual powers that are operating in every community of the world. Maybe you have forgotten what the Bible says in the book of Ephesians 6 vs 12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”. There are powers of darkness you need to conquer if you must succeed and fulfill your purpose as a youth, which is the reason you need power. 

Many of our parents could not achieve so much in life because they did not have this understanding. Many of them were stopped on the journey of destiny because they allowed the powers that be in their communities to stop them. 1 Corinthians 16vs9 says “For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries”. You need the power of God, the Holy Ghost's power (Spiritual power) for you to fulfill what God has sent you to this world to do. To achieve your dream and vision in life, you need power; you need power to overcome every power-stoppin glory in your environment. Nehemiah 6vs11-14. You need the power to deal with people like Tobiah and Sanballat on your way to the top.
