Addiction is a war or battle that needs to be won. It is an illness or disease that can have devastating consequences if it is not overcome; it can lead to premature death. Addiction is more than a physical or mental issue; it can also be a spiritual battle. 2 Corinthians 10vs3-5.

Addiction creates a huge detrimental impact on all of the loving relationships in your life, from your parents to your spouse, children, friends, colleagues, and even God.

Drugs, alcohol, pornography, sexual immorality, etc have beset youth and young adults of this generation; and how to overcome these devilish devices with God’s help is our focus today. Overcoming addiction with God offers you a transformative path towards freedom and recovery, through faith in God, prayer, and seeking divine intervention. You can embark on a journey of healing and renewal by finding solace, support, and help in God through Jesus Christ. Matthew 11vs28-30.

Life is filled with various forms of temptations; God’s word is where you can find the encouragement, courage, and strength to overcome these cravings. The book of Matthew stated above inspired to overcome the power of addiction with the faith and spirit of the Lord. 1 Corinthians 10vs13-14.

BIBLICAL WAYS TO OVERCOME ADDICTIONS

1.  You need to find love in God. For you to overcome any form of addiction that you have funded yourself, you need to find love with God and the household of God. If you ask anyone who has overcome the cobweb of addiction, they will tell you that what the devil usually does is to separate the addict from the people who love him or her from the people that can help him. Anyone who has overcome addiction before will tell you that a support system (people) played a significant role in their healing process.

When you connect yourself with people around you who share common values and understanding, you will increase your chances of obtaining your freedom. Hebrews 10vs25 says you should not neglect the fellowship of the brethren. Acts 2vs42. If you have lost your way and you want to come back, finding love in the fellowship of brethren and God is the foundation of the support that you need.

2.  You need to soak yourself with prayers and fasting. Matthew 17vs20-21. Jesus was admonishing the disciples that nothing would go or happen without the backing of prayer and fasting. Mark 9vs29.

Through your prayer, you can get ever closer to God; when you pray, you will seek answers for yourself. Prayer makes you to be alive unto God (Spirit) and make you dead to the world (Flesh or Physical). Matthew 26vs41. You have to push in place of prayer until your deliverance comes. When you soak yourself in prayer, your restoration will come through the power of God in Christ Jesus. 1 Peter 5vs10.

A strong prayer life is a powerful tool in aiding your sobriety process. Prayer will give you strength and help you to lessen the intensity of your cravings. Philippians 4vs6-7. When you establish a strong and solid prayer life, you will stay connected with God and draw upon yourself his strength to overcome addiction.
