text to speech

There is a true story about a woman who was told at the hospital that her ten-year-old son had died. Refusing to accept this report, she began fervently praying to God. In her anguish, she called out to the Lord, detailing her faithful service to Him. She recounted how she had lived a righteous life, refrained from wrongdoing, remained faithful in her tithes and offerings, and actively participated in soul-winning for the kingdom. She declared the blessings promised in God's Word for such acts of devotion.

Persistently, she proclaimed God's promises and began praying in tongues. Providentially, another Christian mother, who had brought her own son for treatment, joined her in prayer. Miraculously, the boy was revived. This story illustrates how the woman’s enumeration of her faithful acts to God can be seen as her spiritual CV. In our professional lives, we often compile resumes detailing our skills, experiences, and accomplishments. But what if we were to create a spiritual CV, showcasing our journey with God, our growth in faith, and the ways we have lived out our Christian values? Today, let us reflect on our spiritual CV, drawing inspiration from the Bible to understand what truly matters in our walk with the Lord.

1.  Spiritual Birth: Born Again in Christ

The foundation of our spiritual CV begins with our rebirth in Christ. Jesus tells Nicodemus in John 3:3, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again." This moment of accepting Jesus as our Savior marks the beginning of our spiritual journey. It is the most significant entry on our spiritual CV because it signifies our new identity in Christ and the start of a transformative relationship with God.

2. Personal Transformation: Renewing of the Mind

As we grow in our faith, personal transformation is a key aspect of our spiritual CV. Romans 12:2 encourages us, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." This transformation involves changing our thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors to align with God's will. It includes letting go of old, sinful ways and embracing a life led by the Holy Spirit.

3. Spiritual Gifts and Talents: Serving the Body of Christ

God has blessed each of us with unique spiritual gifts and talents to serve the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 says, "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work." Our spiritual CV should reflect how we have utilized these gifts to edify the church and serve others, demonstrating our commitment to God's work.

4.  Faithfulness in Trials: Perseverance and Trust in God

Life is filled with challenges and trials, and our response to these difficulties is a testament to our faith. James 1:2-4 reminds us, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance." Our spiritual CV includes the moments we have remained steadfast in our faith, trusting God through adversity and allowing these experiences to strengthen our relationship with Him.
