god’s kind of wife

A wife is generally defined as a married woman. A man’s partner in marriage. But things (creation) changed and continue to deviate from God’s original plan since the fall of man from the beginning, then we see different kinds of wife all around, everyone choose the definition that pleases and suit them. But talking about God’s kind of wife; the one He intended in the beginning, He called her “HELP MEET”.

Genesis 2:18 gives the basic reason why a man needs a wife, man was created to need a help, he was created helpless so that he can need a wife – called an help meet so that the ministry of the wife which is called the “Help Ministry” can be clearly defined. God sees that man cannot handle the responsibilities He gave him all alone, and since with our God, no excuse for failure, He created an “help meet”, the one suitable for each man; to tell us that for every man there is a woman that fits in to be perfect and suitable help (Genesis 2:21-23). It is a pity that man want to be a wife but without a clear and detailed understanding of what this ministry entails. So when the work begins, many wants to go back and many become unwilling, Proverbs 18:22, 19:14 made us to understand that when a man finds the God’s kind of wife, that’s all, he is able to fulfill his destiny, he has been favored from above because she is a blessing to him from above.

The Lord want to restore the earth back to the beginning, His original intention in marriage; the union of both the husband and his wife means a lot to Him, He has a lot in mind to build, grow and establish with the union and just like in the account of the fall in the book of Genesis, the woman is seen as the door through which the enemy came to destroy, kill and to steal but with our God nothing shall be impossible. He sees and called woman an Help meet in the beginning, it was Adam that called her woman, God still believe in the office of the wife as the Help meet who He wants to use to restore things, to re-establish the union and still brings out His purpose for creating it in the first place. God pronounced that the seed of the woman will bruise the head of the enemy. So as a woman; the God’s kind of wife, a lot is given to you, the marriage union is about you, the success of it and the failure too (Proverbs 14:1). Heaven sees you as the solution to the problem of marriage institution, the kind of marriage He created in the beginning, your ministry can be likened to that of Jesus when on earth, Jesus was still the answer to the problem or questions of the world. Heavens knows you can bring God’s throne to reign in that home, God’s purpose can be fulfilled in that home if you’re willing and obedient to God’s instructions and leading (Isaiah 1:19).

Satan fights what he fears, he fought Jesus when on earth, he fought Eve to destroy the plan, he fights the supernatural power of tongue speaking with confusions all around, he also see you as the help that union needs therefore fights you every day.

Ephesians 6:12 tells us we wrestle not against flesh and blood, he knows you strength and weakness, those challenges you fight or face in your marriage is to pull you down; to make you lose your guard so that he can penetrate in to your garden to wreak havoc, will you allow him? Remember you have been given the authority and right to bruise his head.

So as a wife on the Lord’s side what can I do to fulfil the purpose of God or you don’t even know God has a purpose for the union in the first place.

1. Be strong in the Lord – Ephesians 6:10-12

A wife that does not have God as her power source will definitely fail. A woman that is not strong and connected to the Lord is bound to miss it. 

2. Make the Holy Spirit your instructor and guide – Psalm 32:8

You need instruction at every stage in your marriage. The way you handle situation or challenges A might not be the way you need to handle B, even in child training. There is difference between instruction and teaching.

Instruction is like a command; “Go, do this” but teaching is a detailed method you need to go about the instruction. After been taught, you need monitoring, you need to be watched. As a woman, the God’s kind of wife never allow yourself to be distracted. Cultivate a strong bond with the Spirit of Truth, hear God well, it’s learnable, don’t face the minor instead of the major. Anytime there is a challenge in your home, look beyond the situation or even the behavior of your spouse, see to it that you’re not fighting flesh and blood, run to God, there is nothing you can’t talk to God about, run to Him for wisdom and grace to handle issues.

3. Willingness and obedience – Isaiah 1:19

This is very key as you journey in the “Help Ministry”. God only backs the wife that is willing and obedient. He’ll send you help or wings to fly. He gives strength, comfort, courage, boldness, people, words of God to stand on, grace to pray and so on. Nothing should make you unwilling, tired or discouraged in the race, help is always available. Isaiah 40:11, 29-31.

Being a wife is a call, it is a ministry on its own, it is a responsibility, a great one at that because marriage is about the woman ready to partner with God to fulfil His intentions and purpose for creating it. It’s really for the woman who can say like Jesus “here am I Lord, send me”.

Moreover, godlessness is profitable unto all things having a promise of life in the now and in that which is to come (I Timothy 4:8), for a woman that honors the Lord shall be praised (Proverbs 31:30). When we honor God’s holy instructions, life will go well for us (Proverbs 19:16).

May the Lord grant us grace to finish well and strong in Jesus name. Amen
