Revelation 20:12

No matter how old a child is, a child remains a child to his/her parent and that means your children can never out grown your love and care. Just as we all remain children in the hand of God regardless of our ages and experiences.

THINGS TO ALWAYS TAKE COGNIZANCE OF AS PARENTS

Children are gifts from God and so must be treated as such. Psalm 127:3, 128:3-4. Also the book of James 1:7 says every good and perfect gift comes from God and you can mal-handle a good gift. These children are with us for a purpose regardless of the gender, God doesn’t make mistake.

Even though they’re with us, they still belongs to God as we all are His. He even earmarked for them special Angels. Another point, we must deal with them with the understanding that they would one day return to God, no matter the age.

Be intentional about their training. Don’t be an – “anything goes parent”, “what will be will be” is not a language of an intentional parent. Be a partner God can trust. Genesis 18:19

Create time for your children, be their friend, be their confidant, know them in and out, be there for them as much as you can as a human. Ecclesiastes 3:1. It will be so difficult to correct them when they are old.

SOME OF THE MISTAKES PARENTS MAKE

  • He/she is just a child; training start from childhood.
  • He/she is now grown
  • He/she has out grown cane, given appropriate discipline when they err.
  • Because she/he (parent) is busy with activities in the church
  • We parents won’t always be there with them. Plant the fear of God in their hearts and not your fear, like Joseph in Genesis 39:11-13
  • We focus more on their degrees and achievements than preparing them for heaven.

WHAT TO TEACH YOUR CHILDREN AS PARENT

  • Teach them with understanding. Understand their level of assimilation as children. Be knowledgeable about what you are teaching them too, you can’t give what you don’t have.
  • Lead them to Christ, don’t assume that because they follows your guidelines, then they are born again. For with the mouth confession is made.
  • Be a goodly example. Don’t do what you have taught them the Bible forbids. Be to them an example of a true believer in Christ Jesus.
  • As a Christian parent, always bear in mind that there is no separate heaven for children. The bible has not told us that there is a children department in Heaven. It didn’t tell us that there’d be angels put in charge of children in Heaven.
  • Let them know that the Holy Spirit lives in them – Galatians 5:22
  • Teach them about forgiveness
  • Teach them about contentment; they should not force you to give what you don’t have
  • Teach them about humility
  • Teach them about love and patient
  • Let them know that death is not the only route to heaven and that we are expecting rapture any moment from now.
  • Let them also know that every of their single act will be judged eventually
