HE SHALL BE GREAT
Luke 1:15 - For HE SHALL BE GREAT in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
EXPOSITION:
The angel of the Lord told Zachariah about the greatness of the child - John to be born through him. And later, Jesus himself confirmed his greatness above others (prophets) who came before him. However, as great as John was, he only wears animal skin, feeds on locust and lived in the wilderness and yet was reverenced in the whole land.
The greatness of John the Baptist was not in the wealth gotten but in him being filled with the Holy Ghost. As much as it is good to acquire material wealth, it is best to be filled and led with the Holy Spirit.
Hear this; "Being great in the sight of God is not in title, position nor wealth: but in the measure of His Spirit you carry."
How much of God's Spirit do you carry?
