The Holy Spirit also serves as our intercessor. This idea is eloquently expressed in Romans 8:26–27: "Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. Because the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words, even while we are unsure of what to pray for as we should." The Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf in accordance with God's will during our times of spiritual weakness, when we are unable to speak and feel overwhelmed. The knowledge that even our most private and intimate needs are presented before the Father via this heavenly prayer is a tremendous source of comfort and strength.

Furthermore, the Holy Spirit anoints us as God's own. According to Ephesians 1:13, "In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit." This seal serves as a guarantee of our inheritance in Christ and a symbol of ownership. It gives us comfort in knowing that we are God's children and that our salvation is guaranteed for all eternity.

The Holy Spirit also gives us the ability to serve others. In Acts 1:8, Jesus says, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." All Christians are given the same empowerment as the apostles, allowing us to fearlessly share the gospel and demonstrate our faith in ways that have the capacity to change the world. According to 1 Corinthians 12, the gifts of the Spirit provide us the ability to supernaturally effectively serve the body of Christ and further His kingdom.

Finally, the Holy Spirit develops in us the likeness of Christ. The fruit of the Spirit is defined as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in Galatians 5:22–23. The Holy Spirit changes us from the inside out, shaping us into more and more of Christ's likeness every day as we submit to Him.

The Holy Spirit is a constant source of support for us throughout life's seasons. He gives us consolation, leads, prays for us, seals, gives us power, transforms us, and makes sure we are never alone and consistently prepared for whatever is ahead. So let's develop a closer bond with the Holy Spirit by submitting to His soft guidance and accepting all of His assistance in our lives. And yet, as we are reminded in Psalm 46:1, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." This assistance is made available every day, in every circumstance, by the power of the Holy Spirit.
