The book of Ecclesiastes 3vs1 says “To everything, there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven”. If there is a purpose for everything, that includes you and me. There is a purpose for which you were created into this world, there is a purpose you are born into that your family; that you find yourself in that environment or community or country today, God has a purpose for it and if that purpose is not accomplished, you may not have the sense of fulfillment destiny.

I understand that the system of the world have reshaped our mind and heart to believe that our purpose is to go to school, get a good job or have a good business after school, get married to have a family of our own and you can continue to enjoy your life to the fullness; but the truth is, the purpose for which you are sent into this world is beyond the one stated above. The plans of God for your life are bigger than what human understanding can comprehend, what God wants to do through you as a youth in this generation is beyond what you can imagine.

Prophet Elisha’s initial plan was to become one of the biggest farmers in Israel, his father was a farmer and he had also joined the family business (1 Kings 19vs19) without knowing that the purpose and plan of God for his life is to make him national Prophet (1 Kings 19vs15-17); have you asked yourself if you are doing what God wants you to do. You need to ask yourself if you are fulfilling the mandate of God for your life.

Do you know that life basically is planning; there are two major plans of God for man, most especially for you as a child of God. God’s general plan for man and God’s special plan for man. God’s general plan for you can be found in the book of Genesis 1vs27-28. The general purpose and plan for man is to be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. But beyond this general purpose or plan of God for your life, the special purpose and plan for your life is what God wants you to become in life, if you have God’s special plan and purpose on your head, you cannot be doing what every other person are doing. For instance, Moses in the bible was created to lead the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt to the Promised Land which was why God sent Moses into the world. Although Moses also achieved the general purpose for man beyond the general purpose, he identified God’s special purpose for his life which is to lead the children of God out of the land of slavery into the Promise Land. Exodus 2vs10-15, Exodus 3vs1-15.

Another example is Samson, before Samson’s mother conceived him, the special purpose of God for Samson had been made known (Judges 13vs1-5), apart from the fact that Samson enjoyed the general purpose of God for man, the special purpose of God for his life was identified and was achieved. Judges 14vs1-4, Judges 15vs1-8. Queen Esther in the book of Esther 4vs5-17, Esther 5vs1-14, Esther 6vs1-14, Esther 7vs1-10, identified the purpose of God for her life and that was why she put her life in the front to deliver the Jew from the plan of Haman, she understood she was in the palace as a Queen in such a time to save the children of God from destruction; she did not because of the privileges she is enjoying and forget the reason God had made her Queen in the first place.

You are not an ordinary person, you are created for a purpose and when you start focusing on the will of God when you start pleasing God, you will discover that your life will begin to align with the special purpose of God for your life. A life without God’s direction is a life living in a cycle. Such life will just be moving in a cycle without fulfillment of purpose: following God’s direction is the best every child of God must do because this will aid speedy fulfillment of God’s purpose for such a child of God. There is a need for you to know and understand God’s purpose and plan for your life; how will you know God’s purpose for your life?

  • Through The Word of God: The Psalmist says, thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Psalms 119vs105. When you have the word of God as your companion, your eyes will be opened to what you need to do and how you need to do it. The more God’s words you have within you, the more you will please God to achieve his purpose for your life.
  • Through Prayer: If you want to live beyond and above the identity crisis that you are going through as a young Christian or as a youth, there is a need to ask yourself in prayer the truth, the more you pray, the more revelation you will get about your future and purpose in life. The more you pray, the more you will see yourself walking consciously into the will and purpose of God for your life; when you pray, most especially with the understanding of the word of God, you will discover that your life will just be aligning perfectly with the purpose of God and his plans for your life and you will become that agent of change that God has made you to be in your generation. For instance, Jabez was named a child of sorrow; Jabez was a rejected stone but he prayed unto God and God changed his situation for good to the extent that a city was named after him. 1 Chronicles 2vs55. He prayed and he was made more honorable than his brethren. 1 Chronicles 4vs9-10. If you want to know the purpose and plan for your life, if you want to be fulfilled your purpose in life, you need to start praying.
  • Doing the work of God: like I keep on telling people, every one of us cannot become pastors, this is because if all body is full of ears, what are we going to be using to see? 1 Corinthians 12vs17, but you and I know that every part of the body work together for the same goal. You need to stand up and engage yourself in the service of God because God can only meet you in the place of service. Zacharias was met at the place of service. Luke 1vs5-13, Moses was also met at the place of service by God. Exodus 3vs1-6. David was at the place of service as a shepherd of sheep before he was ordained as king. 1 Samuel 16vs11-13. If you truly want to know the purpose of God for your life, engage yourself in his service first and you will see yourself fulfilling your purpose. Seat back, think deeply, and see what you can be doing for God and humanity and you will see the wonders that will follow.
  • Be sensitive to your inner voice: “But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding”. Job 32vs8. Do you know that as a child of the living God (A Christian youth) you cannot just be doing things the way others are doing them, as a child of God, you cannot just wake up and make decisions for yourself without listening and following the Holy Spirit (Comforter) that is in you. John 14vs16-18. You need to constantly connect yourself with the spirit of God because it is through him that you can have an understanding of why you are here on earth.

CONCLUSION: If everything you are doing is making sense to everybody around you, you are not yet doing what God asks you to do. If what you are doing is pleasing to everyone, it means you have not started the journey of fulfilling your purpose because if you have started the journey, there will be critics and condemnation; but you must not bow to pressure because if you do that means you do not understand your purpose in the first place. If you do not believe in your dream, you may not feature in the picture of your future. God has a purpose for your life, arise and key into it. God bless you.
