Today’s topic is a rhetorical question for everyone who called him or herself a child of God to personally answer. The happenings in our world today gave birth to this topic. The truth is, there is almost no difference between Christians and non-Christians again because if you see some people who are called Christian speak or dress sometimes, you will not differentiate them from someone who has not met with Jesus Christ.

Paul said you should be blameless and harmless; you should be without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse world (generation), among whom you shine as light in the world. Philippians 2vs15.

It may be hard for us as twenty-first-century Christians to believe that character does count as a child of God, when a character is lacking in one’s life as a Christian, one will suffer an identity crisis. Many Christians are violating the standards God had set for all His children; we are watering down the word of God with our conduct. We are called the representatives of God, but we are nowhere to be found in the cabinets of God again.

A Christian must live an irreproachable life, living a life at which no finger of criticism may be pointed, but the reverse is the case in the lives of many of us. 1 Thessalonians 2vs10 says, you are witnesses, and God also, how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe. This is saying, that it is not enough to be called a Christian (witness), you have to be of good conduct/character. As a Christian, you have to be pure, innocent, and unmixed; that is when it can be said that you are harmless. You have to be simple and obey all commandments of God. Romans 16vs19.

There should be no feature on which the outsiders (non-Christians/ unbelievers) would pass a critical verdict on you. You are to live a life without fault and flaws. Ephesians 1vs4. A Christian should be blameless to the world. When unbelievers look at you, they should see you as blameless; there should be no moral or character defect in you. Ephesians 5vs1. People around should see God through you as a child of God. This is because people form their opinion of God from your life as a Christian. To them, you represent God and whatever you are doing, they expect you to be imitating whom you claim to be representing.

Your upright character and morally pure life showcase who you say God is to the world, and when you do not live according to the commandments of God, it means you are profaning God’s name. Ezekiel 36vs22-23. A Christian is to be a good example and a steadying influence in his generation. You have to walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing him. Colossians 1vs10, 1 Thessalonians 2vs12.
