PROFITABLE SERVANT
2 Timothy 4:11 - Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
EXPOSITION
There were many disciples who followed Jesus, yet their impact was never truly felt because they were not ready for the Lord Himself, but only for what they could gain from Him. After the betrayal of Jesus by Judas, there were still many among the seventy and others whose names were mentioned only once and never heard again.
Demas was not fully prepared for the Lord. He abandoned Paul because of other pursuits and worldly interests, while Brother Luke remained faithful. Paul also requested that brother Mark be brought to him because he had become useful for ministry.
The question for personal reflection remains: Are you truly a profitable Christian, or an unprofitable one? God is not merely looking for followers who seek benefits; He desires believers who are available, faithful, and useful for His Kingdom. May our lives not just bear the name of discipleship, but also produce lasting impact for His glory.
