Ezekiel 34:26 - "And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing." (KJV)
This message speaks of God's abundant favor, provision, grace, and spiritual refreshing upon His people. A shower is not a drop or a trickle; it is a plentiful outpouring. When God sends His showers of blessing, every area of life experiences His divine touch and transformation.
In Ezekiel 34:26, God promised His people that He would send rain in its season and make them a blessing to others. This promise reminds us that God is interested not only in meeting our needs but also in making us channels through which others can be blessed.
One of the greatest blessings God gives is spiritual renewal. Many believers become spiritually dry due to life's pressures and challenges. However, God promises to refresh and revive His people. In Isaiah 44:3, He declares, "For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground." Just as rain revives a parched land, God's Spirit revives weary hearts and restores joy, strength, and passion for His service.
Another aspect of God's showers of blessing is divine provision. God knows our needs and has promised to supply them according to His riches in glory. Philippians 4:19 says, "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." When God's blessings are poured out, doors of opportunity open, needs are met, and testimonies abound. This does not mean believers will never face challenges, but it assures us that God remains our faithful Provider.
The showers of blessing also include peace and protection. In a world filled with uncertainty, God grants His children peace that surpasses human understanding. Jesus said in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you." God's presence shields us from fear and gives us confidence even in difficult situations.
However, there are conditions for experiencing God's showers of blessing. First, we must walk in obedience to His Word. Deuteronomy 28:1-2 teaches that blessings follow those who diligently obey God's commands. Obedience positions us to receive what God has prepared for us.
Second, we must live a life of faith and prayer. James 5:16 states that "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." Prayer invites God's intervention and opens the way for His blessings to flow into our lives.
Third, we must remain connected to Christ. Jesus said in John 15:5, "I am the vine, ye are the branches." A branch separated from the vine cannot bear fruit. Likewise, continual fellowship with Christ enables us to experience His blessings and become fruitful in His kingdom.
God's showers of blessing are not meant to terminate on us alone. We are called to be blessings to our families, churches, communities, and the world around us. Genesis 12:2 records God's promise to Abraham: "I will bless thee... and thou shalt be a blessing." As recipients of God's goodness, we should extend love, kindness, generosity, and the message of salvation to others.
In conclusion, God still sends showers of blessing today. He desires to refresh, provide for, protect, and prosper His people spiritually and materially according to His will. Let us seek Him wholeheartedly, walk in obedience, and trust His promises. As we do, we shall experience His abundant blessings and become channels of blessing to others.Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise of showers of blessing. Refresh our souls, strengthen our faith, meet our needs, and make us instruments of blessing to others. Let Your favor rest upon us and our families. In Jesus' name, Amen.
