John 3:16

“For God so love the world that He gave His begotten son that whosoever that believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life”.

What is love?

Love is a complicated emotion that can be challenging to categorize. It is typically a powerful emotion of affection and caring for someone or something. It can also be used to express feelings of intense affection and devotion to someone. Now that we understand what love is, let's explore the various forms of love and discover why God's love is the highest kind of love.

  1. Agape Love: This is unselfish, unconditional love shown to another person regardless of circumstance. It is love that is freely offered without expecting anything in return. As an example, consider a parent that loves their child unconditionally.
  1. Philia Love: This is a deep, powerful friendship and loyalty tie established by two people. It is a love founded on mutual respect and comprehension. For instance, consider two best friends who have been through thick and thin together.
  1. Eros Love: This is a passionate, romantic love that is frequently accompanied by physical desire. It is a love built on powerful emotions and wants. As an example, consider a couple who is profoundly in love yet is unable to maintain their relationship.
  1. Storge Love: This is a love based on comfort and familiarity. It is a common love shared by family members such as parents and children. A mother and her son, for example, have a close bond and a profound understanding of one another.
  1. Pragma Love: A practical, realistic love built on compromise and understanding. It is a type of love that is frequently shared by two individuals who have been together for a long period. For example, consider an elderly couple who have been married for decades and are aware of each other's needs and wishes.
  1. Ludus Love: This is a fun, lighthearted love built on games and flirtation. It is a love that is frequently shared by two people who are still getting to know each other. For instance, consider two people who are flirting and having fun while getting to know each other.

Looking at the various sorts of love and its expectations, one can wonder what other love is more than this.

Romans 5:8 - “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

John 15:13 - "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends."

God's love for people is an unrestricted, eternal love that knows no boundaries. It is a love that is timeless and universal, giving all who seek it peace and hope. It is a love that all people experience, not just Christians. It is a love that is not dependent on anything, even circumstances or conditions. Agape love is another name for it.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 - “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

The love of God for mankind is an eternal and unconditional love that knows no bounds. It is a love that transcends time and space, and is a source of hope and comfort for those who seek it. It is a love that is not only felt by believers, but by all of humanity. It is a love that is unconditional, and is not based on any condition or circumstance.

God's love for mankind is a love that is not only seen in the Bible, but in the lives of those who have chosen to follow Him.

God's love for mankind is a love that is not only seen in the Bible, but in the lives of those who have chosen to follow Him.

  1. It is a love that is seen in the way He cares for His people

Jeremiah 31:3 - “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. “It is a love that is seen in the way He cares for His people.

  1. It is in the way He provides for them.

Philippians 4:19 says, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." This verse assures us that God will provide for all our needs according to His abundant resources and for His glory.

  1. It is a love that is seen in the way He forgives us when we make mistakes

1 John 4:19 - “We love because he first loved us.”

  1. It is in the way He encourages us when we are struggling

Isaiah 41:10 - "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."5. It is a love that is seen in the way He comforts us when we are in pain.

Psalm 46:1 - "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."

  1. It is a love that is seen in the way He comforts us when we are in pain

Psalm 147:3:"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."

  1. It is in the way He strengthens us when we are weak

Isaiah 54:10 - “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

  1. It is a love that is seen in the way He loves us, even when we don't deserve it.

1 John 4:9 - “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.”

  1. It is a love that is seen in the way He never gives up on us, even when we give up on ourselves.

Psalm 103:11 - “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him.”

In order to explain all of these verses, let's return to our introductory passage.

John 3:16 is an important reminder of God’s love for all people, regardless of their past. In the Old Testament, God made a covenant with the nation of Israel, promising to forgive them for their sins and to restore them to a right relationship with Him. This promise was fulfilled in Jesus Christ, who came to save all people from their sins. As Romans 5:8 states, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

The verse also emphasizes the importance of faith in Jesus Christ. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Believing in Jesus is the only way to receive salvation, as John 14:6 states, “Jesus answered

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

HOW DO WE ENJOY THIS LOVE

It's important to remember that we didn't do anything to earn this love. Romans 5:8 - “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Ephesians 2:4-5 - “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”

A moving declaration of God's love and grace for people can be found in Ephesians 2:4–5. The opening line of the chapter declares that God's enormous love for us is what drives Him to save us. This love is a free gift from God and is not contingent on anything we have done or deserve.

God is described as being rich in kindness in the next line, which suggests that even though we have sinned and fallen short of His standards, He is still compassionate and forgiving toward us. Even though we were dead in our sins and estranged from God, He used His mercy to make us alive in Christ.

"Made us alive with Christ" is a reference to our salvation or spiritual rebirth as a result of our faith in Jesus Christ. We have been delivered from the punishment for our sins and made right with God through Christ because of God's grace.

In conclusion, Ephesians 2:4-5 serves as a reminder that our redemption is based on God's compassion and mercy. It is a free gift from God received through faith in Jesus Christ and is not something we can earn or deserve. This verse emphasizes how everyone who believes in God can benefit from His great love and grace.

We must be born again

John 3 verse 3 And Jesus answered and said unto him, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

Romans 10 verse 9 "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

John 3:35 “The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who refuses to believe in the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” (John 3:36)

NOW THAT WE ARE AWARE OF WHAT IT TAKES TO EXPERIENCE THIS KIND OF LOVE, WHY NOT TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE YOUR LIFE TO CHRIST AND BE BORN ALLOWING HIM TO TAKE YOU THROUGH LIFE WITH HIS UNDYING LOVE?

SAY THIS PRAYER AFTER ME

Jesus, I firmly believe that you are the Son of God and that you sacrificed your life on the cross in order to save me from sin, death, and separation from the Father. I make the decision right now to repent of my crimes, my egotism, and everything else in my life that displeases you. I pick you, Jesus. Jesus, I entrust myself to you. I ask you to come into my life as my Savior and Lord, and I accept your pardon. I pray in Jesus' name for the gift of the Holy Spirit, who will guide me to all truth. I now ask for the Holy Spirit to fill me. Come, Jesus, and fill up my heart. Fill me with your life and love, and guide me toward being the kind of person you, Jesus, who is truly loving. Lord, restore me. Live inside of me. Love flowing from me. My status as a slave has been changed to that of a child of God, I announce and decree. I was not left out; I was chosen. God has not given me a spirit of fear but one that is full of power, love, and clear judgment. Thank you. I offer my prayer in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Praise to Jesus, you are now a born-again believer. Please find the nearest Bible-living church and continue to experience God's love.

THANK YOU AND REMAIN EVER BLESSED. JESUS IS LORD FOREVER. AMEN
