THE MASTER KEY

Growing up in the southwest of Nigeria, there is a song we grew up with now from our Christian parents, and we also turned the message in the song into our daily routine. The song remains relevant then, and even now, it’s still relevant.  The song says

“Prayer is the key,

Prayer is the key

Prayer is the master key

Jesus started with prayer and ended with prayer,

Prayer is the master key”.

Today, we will be looking at the keys to having a successful Christian life. There are keys that you must possess as a child of God; these keys will help you approach God as your father with confidence and boldness. They will serve as access cards for you to enter the throne of God with your request; and come back with a good answer.

Just like the system of the world believes that some keys can open unusual doors for man. They believe that if you are well connected, it is a key that can open the door for you; they believe if you are financially influential, it can open the door for you. This world system also believes that if you have good character, it can open a door for you; in my mother tongue, they will say how big you are cannot open a door unless you have the key that will open it.

We are not saying all the above systems are not true, and as a matter of fact, even as a child of God, if you lack any of the above keys, your successful living in the world system will be dragging; and in as much we are still in the world, you and I need them even as we journey in this world before we will see our Master on the last day.

But, our focus today is on the keys that you must have as a child of God to conquer the world and the power of darkness; not only will these keys aid you to conquer the world and the power of darkness, but the keys will also serve as access cards for you to access God your father anytime and anywhere. 1 Thessalonians 5vs17 says “Pray without ceasing”. Apostle Paul understood the need for prayer in the life of a child of God that was why he admonished us that we should pray without ceasing. He said we should pray perseveringly; he said prayer should be the vehicle our life is riding on. With this advice from our dear Apostle Paul; the first master key to a successful Christian life and journey is prayer. As a child of God, you are not to take prayer with carelessness. Prayer should be what you do anywhere and anytime.

Our Lord Jesus Christ also showed us the example; the Bible says Jesus will always withdraw from people to go into the secret place, the mountains to pray. Luke 22vs39-46. Verse 46 says we should pray so that will not enter into temptation. Prayer is a master key. You need it if you must be successful as a child of God.

Joshua 1vs8 says “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shall meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then shall thou make thy way prosperous; and then thou shall have good success". The word of God is another potent key that can open any door. There is power in the word of God; that is why our Lord said, he honors His Word more than his name.
