When we think of other words for new beginnings, we see resumption, rebirth, regeneration, revival, awakening, resurrection, rejuvenation, resurgence, recharging, a new start, genesis, etc. We can find these in the Bible. The faithfulness of God brought us to this end, year 2024 and we need to think more and deeper. The good news is that God says, “I want to do something new in your life. I want to give you a fresh start, a new beginning.”

The book of Isaiah 43:19 says, “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Spring is known as “the season of hope” because it symbolizes the resurgence of life after the inevitable challenges of winter. This rising energy generally helps us feel more optimistic and driven to make the most out of our days.

God promises that in Jesus, all things are made new, and the former things fade away. God provides you with a brand new year and new hope by forgiving and forgetting your past deeds. (Hebrews 8:12) “For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more”.

We need to understand that God doesn’t look back. It’s one thing to remember the past successes, but another to live in the past. Our faith is often limited by what we have experienced in the past, Israel was where they were because of a history of failures and disobedience yet God says don’t look back at the past. He makes all things new and when we come to Christ, we become a new creation. All things become new. (Isaiah 42:9).

God can give us a fresh start when life seems barren with consequences as a result of our sins, but God will walk with us through difficulties and He will use them for our good (Romans 8:28). Sometimes, we need a fresh start, because we are discouraged or even worn out.

Ruth chose to go with Naomi and pursue a new beginning. By the end of Ruth's story, we see God's amazing faithfulness in bringing new beginnings. Ruth marries Boaz, has a baby, and is King David’s great-grandmother. That's what I call a new beginning!

A new beginning awaits anyone who is fully ready to do the will of the Father in this New Year. God wants you and me to worship and praise Him, serve Him with the whole of our hearts, and stay connected to Him from time to time.

Our God is still in the business of turning lives around as He did for Job. The Bible says,

In the end, God restored all that Job had lost and gave him twice as much as he had before. The Lord blessed him with a long life, and with seven more sons, and three more daughters who were the most beautiful women in all the land. Satan was proved wrong, and God’s righteousness had prevailed. Hallelujah!!!

Ephesians 3:20-21 says, Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.

Finally, for us to enjoy a full-length new beginning this year we need to remember what the book of 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here”.
