Flee all appearance of sin. Flee is a stronger word than run. You have to be intentional about overcoming lustful desires. Any time you notice an appearance of evil or anything that can lead you into sinning against God, you do not just need to walk away or run, you must flee because that is what the word of God says. 2 Timothy 2vs22, 1 Timothy 6vs11, 1 Corinthians 10vs14.

You must guard your eyes and your ears so that the things of this world will not be able to override you. That is, for your emotions not to overtake your reality in Christ.

To overcome lust, you have to become a friend of God, and you cannot become a friend of God if you are not born again. To overcome lust, you have to walk in the spirit according to Galatians 5vs16-18, but you cannot walk in the spirit if you are not born again.

Another thing you have to do is to release yourself for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, because the Bible says, it is only those who are led by the spirit of God, are the children of God. Romans 8vs14. To overcome lust, you have to put to death your flesh and allow the Holy Spirit to take over your mind and thoughts. Colossians 3vs5-7.

2 Timothy 2vs15 says “Study to show yourself approved to God…." studying the word of God helps you to know your right from your wrong. It helps you to know what is right or wrong. When the word of God is fully in you, it gives you spiritual strength to put your body under subjection whenever the wrong thoughts (lustful desires) appear.

The amount of the word of God you have will aid your walk in the spirit. God’s word helps you to grow in the strength of God. Fasting and prayer must not be taken lightly; fasting and prayer - an acts of receiving strength to withstand the flesh. Our master Jesus Christ says, you should watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. Matthew 26vs41. When you fast, you are putting your body under subjection; and allowing your spirit man to have the upper hand over your flesh.

If you keep sinful friends, you will always find it difficult to flee from lust; because evil communication corrupts good manners. 1 Corinthians 15vs33. You need to associate yourself with friends who can help you to grow spiritually. Friends who can help your journey of spiritual maturity and make it smooth. When you continue to parade yourself with the wrong associate, you will always be influenced incorrectly. Keep good friends and you will see yourself winning the battle of lust.

Empowering your spirit man will help you in this journey of overcoming lust. You can empower your spirit man by listening to good Christian tapes, sermons, and testimonies of people that God has helped. You read books on how to overcome lust and strengthen your faith; when you do this, you are sowing into your spirit and setting yourself up to overcome lust and sinful habits. Galatians 6vs8. If you choose to yield to your fleshy desires, you will always be troubled with lust and sinful habits, but when you yield yourself continually to the spirit; your body (flesh) will continually be under subjection.

For you to continually be an overcomer, please do not toy with your relationship with the Holy Spirit because having an improving relationship with the Holy Spirit of God and his way will make you stay on the winning side.

CONCLUSION: You need to understand that you must discipline yourself and deny yourself pleasure if you must completely overcome lust. Daniel 1vs8. You must remind yourself constantly that lust is a sin, and if you fall into it, it will bring death.

Ensure you kill all strange thoughts and fill your thoughts with the thoughts of the Lord. Destroy all doors of lust, physically and spiritually in your life. Cut off from anything that is connecting your life with lustful desire; and give room for the Holy Ghost to incubate your life.

If you are already in the trouble of lust, if you have failed miserably and wondering if you will ever be able to be free from the grip of lust; you need to know that there is hope in Christ for you; He can save you if only you can run to him.
