Whether it's starting a new job, relocating to a new city, or embarking on a new chapter in your personal life, the uncertainty of the unknown can leave us feeling both excited and nervous. However, for the believer, faith in God is the foundation upon which we stand as we venture into unfamiliar terrain, knowing that our steps are guided by a faithful and loving God.
Faith is a daily decision—a confidence in God that enables us to courageously pursue what He has for us—rather than a one-time act. Faith, according to Hebrews 11:1, is "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Faith is the assurance of what we hope for, even when we cannot see it, according to this potent verse. Starting a new chapter in life is often a leap into the unseen. It may not always make sense, and we may not have all the answers, but faith challenges us to believe in God's promises even when the future is unknown. Jesus is the ultimate example of faith in action; he started the greatest new chapter in history—His earthly ministry and sacrifice—by fully trusting in the will of the Father. His example shows us that faith is not passive but active, and that it necessitates looking beyond our own understanding and placing our full confidence in God's plan. The writer of Hebrews 12:2 encourages us to "fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith."
New beginnings often bring feelings of vulnerability, doubt, and fear, but faith turns these feelings into opportunities for growth and deeper trust in God. The journey of starting over can feel like walking on unknown terrain, but when we rely on faith, we know we are not walking alone. God walks with us every step of the way. Faith gives us the confidence and strength we need to move forward when we stand at the crossroads of a new beginning. Romans 8:28 assures us, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." God is directing our paths in every new season, and when we step out in faith, we are trusting that He is making a way even when we cannot see it. This is the beauty of faith: it is not dependent on perfect circumstances or definitive answers. Faith in God is the assurance that, even in the unknown, He is working things out for our good.
