He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction. Proverbs 13:3 (KJV)

Whatsoever becomes of you is established through the words of your mouth. “The words you speak can make you or mar you” either consciously or unconsciously – the words you speak have a link with your destiny.

Several persons have become the victim of their utterances, God created and preserved your life and destiny so you could impact your generation though yet unborn positively. If only you think before you speak it will amaze you how you could have impacted your marriage positively.

There is this little blade called the tongue that is hidden in the mouth, this tongue has more influence over the whole body. However, you can decide never to open your mouth whenever the tongue demands permission to speak. King Solomon spoke concerning the fruit produced by the tongue.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof….Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles”. Proverbs 18:21 Proverbs 21:23 (KJV)

Most often we should hold back our expression before it courses irreparable damage. Until you understand the power in your tongue you will always be careless with it.

I am not saying I am a perfect thinker, what I am telling us is; before you speak think, process your words, don’t speak unguided words. It is wise for us never to say a word than to speak and be misunderstood.

Therefore do not let your good be spoken of as evil; Rom 14:16 (NKJV)

However, you don’t have to impress your superiors by talking down to your colleagues. Before you speak, think of what will happen in the next moment. This reminded me of an issue involving a fellow when he purchased a landed property for the local Parish where he was the parish Pastor, to cut the long story short, a panel of the investigation was set up and to his surprise, it was my very close colleague that was asked to remark.

He said Brother Brown (that wasn't his real name) is too proud and arrogant, this is a person they both shared things together for thirty months. Brother Brown said he spent many nights in his home but for all those months he never called his attention to his pride and arrogance. Wow! After that meeting brother Brown excused him and said sir I don’t think we will ever be close friends again, I have forgiven you as a child of God, but our relationship remains official from this day forward.

He who speaks flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children will fail. Job 17:5 (NKJV)

Many situations still stare at us even when we pretended as if all is well. However, confronting those situations politely will be the best approach. Every Pastor must not be your friend both brothers and sisters should not. I will rather pray for everyone and stay perfect until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ than talk anyone down. This is much better I think than committing oneself to all men.

The Bible says But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men,” John 2:24 (NKJV)

The Words of your mouth Are Spirit

“……The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63 (NKJV)

Since the day I understood that words never die but outlives us, I took precautions on every word I speak. Don’t join the club of people who say “it is just a mere word” every word a man speaks is potent even the one spoken by a mad man. In this kingdom where we belong, no idle or careless word is permitted. Because it is written, you shall have whatsoever you say. Jesus in his days never spoke carelessly even when the pressure was much on him. Do you want to enjoy the same grace for guided words? Then you need Jesus to come into your life as Lord and personal savior.

In case you are in the habit of calling your children naughty whenever you are upset by their misdemeanor, remember your words are spirit.
