Fruits are among the wonderful gifts that God has provided for mankind. They come in different colours, shapes, sizes, flavours, and textures, making them both enjoyable and beneficial to our health. From sweet mangoes and bananas to juicy oranges, watermelons, pawpaw, apples, and pineapples, fruits provide important nutrients that help our bodies grow, stay strong, and function properly. Truly, fruits are God’s healthy gifts to us.
In the beginning, God made provision for the food needs of humanity. In Genesis 1:29, God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed… and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” This shows us that the natural foods God created, including fruits, are part of His wonderful provision for mankind.
Fruits are rich in essential vitamins and minerals. Oranges, guavas, and pineapples contain vitamin C, which helps support the body's natural defences. Bananas contain potassium, an important mineral for normal body functions. Pawpaw and mangoes provide nutrients that support healthy growth and eyesight. Many fruits also contain fibre, which helps the digestive system work properly. By eating a variety of fruits, we can give our bodies many of the nutrients they need.
One wonderful thing about fruits is that they are available in many colours. Red fruits, yellow fruits, green fruits, orange fruits, and purple fruits often contain different combinations of beneficial nutrients. This is why it is good to enjoy a variety rather than eating only one type of fruit. A colourful fruit plate can be both attractive and nutritious.
Fruits can also be a healthy alternative to highly processed snacks. Instead of always choosing sweets, biscuits, or sugary drinks, children and adults can enjoy fresh fruits as part of their meals and snacks. An apple, banana, orange, or slice of watermelon can be refreshing and satisfying. Fruits can be eaten fresh, added to salads, blended into smoothies, or included in healthy breakfast meals.
Good health is one of the blessings we should value and care for. The Bible teaches us that our bodies are important. 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 reminds believers that their bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and that they should glorify God in their bodies. While eating fruits alone does not guarantee perfect health, choosing nutritious foods is one practical way of caring for the bodies God has given us.
Children especially need good nutrition because their bodies are growing. Parents and guardians can encourage healthy eating by making fruits available at home. Schools can also teach children about the importance of eating a balanced diet that includes fruits and vegetables. Simple habits learned during childhood can continue into adult life.
Before eating fruits, it is important to wash them properly. Fresh fruits should be handled hygienically, and a variety of fruits should be included as part of a balanced diet. Eating fruits together with other nutritious foods, drinking enough water, and maintaining an active lifestyle can all contribute to better health.
Fruits also remind us of God's goodness and generosity. Nature is filled with an amazing variety of foods that nourish and delight us. James 1:17 says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.” As we enjoy the sweetness and nourishment that fruits provide, we can remember to be grateful to God for His provision.
In conclusion, fruits are truly God’s healthy gifts. They provide nourishment, natural goodness, and enjoyable flavours while reminding us of the beauty and abundance of God's creation. Let us appreciate these gifts, make fruits a regular part of our healthy eating habits, and teach others—especially children—to value the good things God has provided for our wellbeing.
