Caleb was a very young boy from the tribe of Judah, bold and with a great mind. He stood up against the narrow-minded people that went together with him to spy on the land of Canaan. Although his voice was not popular and his opinion stand like that of the minority but he did not allow the evil’s opinion and voice to overwhelm his point of view. When others believed that they saw giants, Caleb through the eye of the spirit saw things differently. When the rest spies see themselves as grasshoppers; Caleb saw the Almighty God who can give them victory without a fight. Numbers 13vs1-33.

To achieve greater things in life, there are some principles that must be followed if you want to be great in life. There are some habits that you must wear as clothing.

We will be looking at the eagle and learning some special principles that make him unique among all birds. We will look at those things that make him special; we will also look at some Biblical examples of people who adopted these principles and their names become points of reference till today.

PRINCIPLES OF GREAT MINDS

  • They have accurate Vision: Eagles have the ability to focus on something as far as 5km away, no matter the problem (obstacles), an eagle will not shift his focus on the prey until he grabs it.

One of the principles of great minds is the ability to a have vision and remain focused. Joseph is a good example here. He had the vision that he is going to be great, and he remained focused on it without minding the obstacles and challenges that faced him. Genesis 37vs5-11, Genesis 37vs17-29, Genesis 37vs36, Genesis 39vs7-21, Genesis 41vs38-46.

When you carefully study the above Bible passages, you will discover that they talk about the vision of Joseph and the obstacles and challenges that he faced before achieving his vision. It is the principle of great minds to have an accurate vision and remain focused no matter what the obstacles are.

  • They fly at high altitudes: Another ability that we can see from an eagle is the power to fly alone and at higher altitudes. Eagles will not fly on the same level as sparrows, raves, and other small birds. This is another principle of great-minded people. They don’t usually stay in the company of weak minds, because they do not want anything to drag them down.

David in the Bible is another person whom the principle worked for. David surrounded himself with great men of velour. 2 Samuel 21vs17, 1 Samuel 24vs4.

If you want to be great in life, stay away from narrow-minded people; people that don’t believe in your dream and vision; those that bring you down, you need to learn to walk with people that believe in and encourage your vision and dreams. Eagle flies with eagles, while chicken walks with chickens. Keep good company, the company of people that have faith in you if you must be great in life.

  • They love storms: Eagles always see the storming period as an opportunity to showcase their specialty. When clouds gather; the eagle gets excited and uses the storm’s wind to lift itself higher. While other birds are hiding in the branches and leaves of the tree, the eagle uses the raging storm to lift itself above the clouds. This gives the eagle an opportunity to glide and rest its wings.

David used the opportunity he had to face Goliath and announce himself to the people of Israel. Goliath had being the storm that all the armies of Israel have been hiding from; including Saul the King, the commander in chief of arm forces of Israel; they saw Goliath as the storm they cannot face but David used Goliath as the storm that eagle will use to lift itself high. 1 Samuel 17vs1-54.

There is a need for you to understand that storms are part of the journey to greatness. There is no how you are going to be great if you will not face storms (challenges) and how you handle the challenges (storms) will determine how far you will go. People that do run away from challenges do not last long but people that do face their challenges head-on are people whom the world is referring to as great minds.

When you face your challenges head-on, it will make you emerge stronger and better than you are. You must always see and use the storms of life to rise to greater heights. Great minds are not afraid of challenges, rather they relish them and use the profitably. 1 Samuel 17vs33-37.

  • They don’t eat dead meat: Another wonderful principle from eagles is, they do not eat dead things. Eagles eat fresh meat; they only feed on fresh prey.

Looking at the account of David very well in the book of first Samuel, you will discover that David did not believe in his past glory, success and ability. While he was talking with King Saul; David said, the Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. 1 Samuel 17vs37-38.

Do not rely on your past success if you want to be and remain a great achiever in life. Keep looking for new opportunities to conquer. Leave your past where it belongs. Do not be part of the people that hurt their future with the error of the past. Always strive to achieve new success because that is the principle of great minds.

  • They train and retrained: Eagles will remove the feathers and soft grass in the nest so that their young can get uncomfortable in preparation for flying. The young ones fly when it becomes uncomfortable to stay in the nest. Eagles will carry the young ones to high altitudes and leave it in the air all in the name of training the baby eagles how to make use of its wings.

Another principle of great minds is that they are always not comfortable with their present achievements. They are always tasty for more and they always love to be trained by experts. They love training and re-training. They love leaving their comfort zone in order to get a better result for their works. If you must be successful in life, you must leave your comfort zone because there is no growth in your comfort zone. The difference between David and the army of Israel is, David left his comfort zone to approach Goliath in battle. 1 Samuel 17vs40-48. I want you to take note of that verse 48 very well. The Bible says, David hastened and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. Leave your comfort zone and get the right training if you must be an achiever.

CONCLUSION: Being an achiever is not child’s play. You must remain focused on your dreams and believe strongly in God that can give you the grace to achieve all things. The unique and common thing in the life of Joseph and David is, they believe in God and have him (God) as their strength and power.

If you have all the knowledge of all that I have been talking about without the presence of God in your life, you will achieve but you will not go far, because God is the only one that can give you the power to achieve that great success and will not corrupt. Jesus Christ is the only way through which you can access this God that I am talking about. The Bible says – all power belongs to him; power to make wealth and power to go far in life.

If you have not recognized Jesus as your Lord and savior, this is another opportunity for you because he is waiting to embrace you and help you to achieve the success that your heart and mind have been longing for. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday; today and forever; his power still remains potent. He will help you just as he helped others in the past only if you can come to him today.
