HOLINESS – Part 1

Christianity is a journey, and this is what many of us, children of God, do not understand: one of the instruments we need in this journey is Holiness. God, our maker, said in His word that we should follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. Hebrews 12vs14

We are on a journey to see our dear Lord God. In the above Bible passage, God said we need to live peacefully with all men and be Holy if we truly want to see Him, because He is Holy. Everyone who will serve Him must do that in Holiness and truth. John 4vs23-24

This is the truth that is missing among the so-called Christians of this generation. The youth and the young adults now believe that God is a God of mercy and that your look, attitude, words, etc does not matter again, they believe Holiness (Sanctification) is an old school thing, the believe of this generation is that, Jesus had died for them, that they can continue in their unholy activities because grace will be abound. Romans 6vs1

In this message, we want to examine what holiness is. The word Holiness has eight letters, and we are going to look at the meaning of each letter and how important they are to our daily lives as children of God.

When you apply the following definitions in your day-to-day life activities, you will see yourself shining before God and man; you will discover that your journey to the heavenly home as a child of God will be smooth, and you will make it home.

WHAT IS HOLINESS?

1. The letter ‘H’, which is the first letter in the word HOLINESS, means HEAVENLY-MINDED. Colossians 3vs1-4

To be a citizen of heaven, you must behave like one while you are on earth, and this entails living a life devoid of sin, sickness, poverty, and all the vices of the darkness on earth. To be heavenly-minded, you must hunger for God. Joshua 24 vs 15, you need to stand up and start acting like Christ in all things. Study and apply the principles of the Bible in your life; fear God rather than men.

To be heavenly-minded, you have to study the autobiographies of Godly men and follow after them; let the Holy Spirit take over your heart and mind. Hebrews 11vs14-16

2. The second letter in the word HOLINESS is the letter “O”, which can be translated to be ORDERLINESS. 1 Corinthians 14vs40

Orderliness means behaving in an orderly manner; this is the opposite of what we are seeing in the lives of many youths and young adults of this generation. Orderliness is the opposite of confusion; confusion connotes disorderliness, quarreling, fighting, and other works of the devil. Orderliness, on the other hand, means peace, love, joy, and other works of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5vs22-26

You can live in orderliness when you have Jesus, the personification of orderliness in your life, and when you begin to exhibit humility and study the situation before acting. Orderliness begins when you obey rules and avoid adopting shortcuts in all situations.

Jesus Christ is the perfect example of orderliness; He destroyed the works of Satan and brought orderliness into the world. John 10vs10; which is why you have to live a spirit-led life, and glorify God in all situations of your life. You need to start doing things in decent manners. 1 Corinthians 14vs33
