2 Corinthians 13vs5 says, “examine and test and evaluate your own self to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourself (Not Christ). Do you not yourself realize and know (thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience) that Jesus Christ is in you, unless you are (Counterfeits) disapproved on trial and rejected?” (AMPC Version).
Looking at the above Bible passage with the spiritual eyes, you will see that the question of examination there is directed to us all as children of God; we are to check ourselves if we are still in Christ; and just as the world has categorize it today, which gave birth to this message that says what kind of believer are you; are you a Christian, or Born Again Christian, or Genuinely Born Again Christian.
The Bible says the Disciples were first called Christians in Antioch; no other label was added, and no adjective was used. However, in our generation, Christianity has become a label, being born again has become a language, but genuine rebirth remains a narrow path. Many are in church, but few are in Christ. Many profess salvation, few possess transformation. Jesus Christ, in John 3:3 did not say whether you are attending church or bear a Christian name, but he said if you are born again. Today, heaven is asking you, what kind of believer are you?
In this message, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we will be looking at who our world (Generation) refers to as Christian, who they call a born-again Christian, and who a genuinely born-again Christian is, because these are the names believers are called in our world now. We will also be comparing the three.
WHO IS A CHRISTIAN?
The way our environment and happenings define a Christian as someone who is identified with Christ Jesus outwardly, often by culture, environment, family background, or religious affiliation, without regeneration. This means Christian here is an association, not a transformation. They bear names like John, Matthew, Paul, and so on. In other words, they bear Christian names, associated with the Christian religion, and confessed that they know Jesus Christ. They are the type that only associate with Jesus Christ in order to get what is in His hand, and not to get His personality. Matthew 15vs8, 2 Timothy 3vs5
This type of Christian knows church language but lacks spiritual life. They love religion but avoid repentance; they are comfortable with sin and Christ at the same time. They have not truly recognized Jesus Christ as the Lord over their lives. Jesus Christ is among the options they have, and not their only option. They are not offended by sin and unbroken by the work on the cross.
Let me ask you again, what kind of believer are you? If Church, Bible (Word of God), and prayer were removed from your life, would your faith in Christ still exist?
