The head symbolizes authority while the hand stands for power; and whenever authority and power meet, power will always bow for authority. Everyone born of God has been given the authority of the head, and as the head, you are a leader. Deuteronomy 28vs13.

Headship is all about influence. Headship is leadership. Everybody is a leader, even a bus conductor is a leader in his own profession; a cleaner is a leader in his or her own career. But the truth is, a true leader determines the destiny of an individual and he also determines the destiny of a nation. A good example is seen in the life of King Solomon, he had the opportunity to ask God for money and power but because he understood that the destiny of his nation was hanging on his neck as the head; he asked for wisdom to direct and rule the people aright instead of asking for wealth and power that you and I will ask for. 1 Kings 3vs3-13.

You are also a leader but the way you live your life will determine if you are just an ordinary leader or the type with great influence. Your values will determine the type of leader (Head) that you are; your value determines your perception and your perception also determines your ways. The way you view and handle things will determine if you are the type of leader who is God-made or manmade/self-made.

There are many self-acclaimed leaders in our world today; they claim to be leaders but they are leading nobody. They are just moving without somebody following them because they lack values and morals. Their sole aim is that of their pocket and position, they are not concerned about the lives of people under them. They are overwhelmed by themselves and their personalities and what they stand to gain and not about impacting and influencing their followers. These type of leaders has no values.

THINGS THAT CAN DETERMINE YOUR VALUES

1.  Your family where you are born. Your family background at which you were born and grew up will be a determinant of your habit which will now become your value system. A boy born into kingship will not walk like an ordinary boy; he will walk like a Prince because, by virtue of his family background, he is automatically in the role to be the future king.

Gideon said to the angel that appeared to him at Ophrah that his family is poor in Manasseh and that he is the least in his father’s house; because the angel said he will be the one that will save Israel. Gideon understood that his family background does not state the values the angel is giving to him. Judges 6vs10-16.

But Gideon stood up without allowing his family background to put his back to the ground, he keyed into the purpose of God for his life and he was put in place to determine the faith of a whole nation. At every stage of your life where you are in a position to determine the faith of others, you are a leader and do not allow your family background to state otherwise.

2.   The environment where you grow. If the environment in which you were brought up does not give you a reason to be a good leader, the only option for you is to allow Jesus to influence your mind and with that, you will be a good leader.

Gideon's environment was a disadvantage to him, the Bible says “And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites and the children of Israel cried unto lord”. Judges 6vs6. As a matter of fact, Gideon was at the field where he was threshing wheat by the winepress in order to hide it from the Medianites who always come to trouble their land while the angel of God appeared to him (Judges 6vs11-12), Gideon allowed God to influence his mind and he stood to defend his people.

Your background and environment may not be adding any value to you but you are the one that will not allow your background to put your back on the ground; you will have to stand up and be the game changer in your environment. Gideon stood up and he became the game changer in Israel after he allowed God to influence his mind.

3.   Your habit. You may have a good family background and a good environment that can add value to your life but if your habit or attitude is wrong, you cannot be the head. The prodigal son in the Bible had a good family background, and the environment was suitable for him but he had a wrong habit; his wrong habit sold him out. Luke 15vs11-16.

Value is a principle or standard on which your ways of life are based. What you believe to be truth is your value. Your behavior toward people is a function of your value system. Everybody you are opportune to meet in life, learn to value them no matter their position. This is because such a person can later have results to your questions.
