It is very obvious that the youth of this generation do not want to take responsibility. Let us take a look at the generation before now, we will discover they were mountain movers when they were still young and city shakers but youths in this present generation have entangled themselves with affairs that profited nothing. This generation is being carried away to the level that they now major (focus) in minor instead of major.

The book of 2 Timothy 2vs1-5 is being addressed to this generation; he said we should be strong and that what we have heard should be committed to the next generation but the truth is, many of the youth of this generation had thrown the key to the gate of an ancient landmark away because we do not want to take responsibility for others and even unto ourselves.

You need to understand that there is no way you can live a successful life without taking responsibility for yourself and for something; when you prove yourself to be answerable to your responsibility, you will see meaningful life becomes to you.

God gave Adam and Eve the responsibility to dress and keep the land in the book of Genesis 2vs15 and the day they failed on this task, they were cursed and expelled from the Garden of Eden. Genesis 3vs23. If you must fulfill your purpose and make an impact in life, you must take responsibility and run with it.

Responsibility is an act of being answerable for an act performed or for its consequence. It is the state or fact of having control over someone. Many areas are waiting for you to take firm responsibility because if such is not taking, it will be very difficult for you to live an impactful life.

AREAS WHERE YOU NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY

There are many aspects of our lives that are demanding attention. That is, there are many areas of life that you need to stand up and take responsibility for; out of that many, few will be mentioned before we finished this assignment as God will give grace.

1.  You have to take responsibility for yourself. We are now in a generation that wants everything to be done for them. They always expect manna to fall from the heavens without taking actions or taking steps that will birth the manna.

You have to work with the mindset of becoming accountable for your well-being. Prophet Elisha, as powerful as he was died of sickness because he did not take responsibility for that aspect of his life. 2 Kings 13vs14. The system (Organs) of your body does not have duplicates, which is why you need to take care of your health.

There are many instances of kidney failure, high blood pressure, and many other sicknesses that are sometimes ago seen in adults but are found among the young ones now because they do not take responsibility for their well-being.

There is a need for you to understand that there is no amount of how big your dream, your purpose, or your vision is, you have to be in good health before you can achieve it in full. Your health is very important to the fulfillment of your purpose in life. Eat good food; stop engaging in drug abuse because those chemical mixtures you are taking do have negative effects on the organs in your body. You have to be answerable for your well-being because it is very important and critical to the fulfillment of your purpose on earth.

2.  You have to be responsible to the people around you. In as much as there is no man who can live in isolation, you need people around you for you to live a meaningful life; and that is why you have to be responsible for people around you. King Solomon in the book of 1 Kings 3vs5-10 understood being responsible for people, that was why he asked for nothing from God when he was given an open cheque than wisdom to rule and judge the people aright.

As husband to your wife, you have to be responsible by showing her your undivided love. Ephesians 5vs25, Colossians 3vs19; as a wife, you have to accept the authority of your husband by taking responsibility to totally submit to him. Ephesians 5vs22, 1 Peter 3vs1. As children or a child to his or her parents, you have to honor them. Exodus 20vs12, Matthew 15vs4, Deuteronomy 5vs16.

It is expected of you to be a responsible citizen. You have to be responsible to the law of the land and to your community, you do not have to always wait for what your state (government) has to offer you but you have to search within and see what you can do for your community in order to make better the life of people around you.

The book of Matthew 4vs23 says “Jesus went about all Galilee teaching in their Synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the Kingdom, healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people”. Our Lord Jesus was answerable to his purpose among the people. There is a purpose why God had put you among the people you find yourself and for you to fulfill that purpose; you have to be answerable to them by being responsible.

3.  You have to be responsible for your future. As a youth, you are to take responsibility for controlling your financial life. Swimming in money and wealth now does not mean that is how it will continue. You need to be answerable to financial planning and investments. Learn how to put your money into investments that will bring future laughter to you; do not eat with your ten fingers. Ecclesiastes 11vs4, Psalms 126vs5, Ecclesiastes 11vs6.

You have to take responsibility by sowing into your future. Invest into your tomorrow now while it is still morning because the night comes when you will not be able to work again. John 9vs4. The nighttime is when you will not have the strength to do work again but your investment in your morning season will now be speaking for you.

4.  You have to be responsible to your maker. Stand up and serve God like never before. Be responsible to God and his kingdom, and deplore all that you have within your capacity such as physical, spiritual, mental and financial resources to populate the kingdom of God.

Use your technological know-how as a youth or young adult to proclaim the gospel of Christ because that was the first purpose he gave you before any other. Matthew 24vs14, Mark 16vs15.

It is only when you are responsible to God that you can be responsible to the people around you and to yourself. Stand up and be responsible because if you are not responsible, God cannot commit wealth into your hand, if you are not responsible, people cannot honor you.

Conclusion: There are many consequences that await anyone not taking responsibility. If you are neglecting your responsibility, you will be replaced. 1 Samuel 15vs26 and 28. If you choose not to be answerable and responsible, you can lose divine presence and relevancy as a child of God. 1 Samuel 16vs15.

Privileges that you are enjoying from God or from men can be withdrawn if you refuse to take responsibility and be accountable. Genesis 3vs24. Many are examples of people that started well but did not end well because they were not responsible, because they choose not to be answerable for their actions. If you choose not to be responsible in life, ending well will be difficult (1 Samuel 31vs3-6), because it is those that are taking responsibility that will get the accolades and those who are avoiding responsibility will have wrath. Stand up, make up your mind, and be responsible for yourself, to people around you and by extension your community, your future and to God.
