Think back to other times in your life when you faced uncertainty or hardship. Maybe you didn’t think you’d make it through, but here you are—stronger and wiser for it. Reflecting on past victories, even small ones, reminds us of our resilience. We’ve faced storms before, and we’ll face them again. Faith grows when we recognize our own ability to survive, adapt, and thrive, no matter what comes our way.
It’s hard to see silver linings when we’re in the middle of hardship. But often, it’s during our toughest moments that we learn the most about ourselves. Maybe the uncertainty forces us to slow down, to reflect, or to re-prioritize what truly matters. While we can’t always see it in the moment, every challenge offers us a chance to grow—whether it’s developing resilience, learning patience, or deepening our empathy for others. Faith grows when we start looking for these hidden gifts, trusting that there’s meaning in the mess.
Uncertainty breeds fear. It’s natural to feel anxious when we don’t know what’s coming next—whether it’s a health crisis, a career change, or a relationship breaking down. But the first step in building faith is to acknowledge the fear without letting it paralyze us, Luke 1:37 (KJV) "For with God nothing shall be impossible." It’s okay to feel afraid, to admit that we’re unsure or even lost. But we don’t have to be stuck there. Faith begins when we allow ourselves to feel the fear and choose to move forward anyway.
Uncertainty often pulls us into a cycle of “what ifs.” We worry about the future or regret the past, which takes us away from the only place we have control over—the present. Practicing mindfulness, even in small doses, helps us stay grounded in the here and now. Whether it’s noticing the sound of rain outside your window, the warmth of a loved one’s voice, or just the steady rhythm of your breath, these moments remind us that, right now, we are okay. And faith is found in trusting that the next moment will take care of itself.
One of the hardest lessons uncertainty teaches us is that we can’t control everything. And while that’s a terrifying realization, it’s also where faith comes alive. Faith isn’t about knowing all the answers or being certain of the future. It’s about trusting that, even when things don’t go according to plan, there’s still a plan at work—one we may not fully understand yet Romans 8:28 (KJV) "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Letting go of the need to control every outcome opens us up to the possibility that life might unfold in ways better than we could imagine
Faith isn't some lofty, unattainable ideal. It’s the quiet reassurance in our hearts that, even when we can’t see the path ahead, we are still being guided. Sometimes, when our own faith falters, we can borrow faith from those around us. That's why the bible says in Hebrews 10:25 (KJV) Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. A simple conversation or a shared silence with someone who cares can remind us that we’re not in this alone.
Nurturing faith in uncertain times isn’t about pretending everything is okay or avoiding the reality of our fears. It’s about choosing, each day, to believe that there is something greater guiding us, even when we can’t see it. Faith is quiet, personal, and deeply human. It’s in the way we keep showing up, despite the unknowns. In uncertain times, faith becomes our anchor—steadying us, giving us hope, and reminding us that we are never walking this path alone because God is in control Matthew 19:26 (NLT) Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”
