Romans 12:1-2

To be transformed or transform something is to change or alter in form, appearance or nature. It means to give a completely different form or appearance. In life, we become the products of our thought. The Bible said as he thinketh in his heart so is he (Proverbs 23:7a). This tells us that our thoughts are very powerful and paramount to what we are and do in life.

The Bible teaches us in our bible text the kind of life God requires from us and how we can live this life. We are expected to offer up our lives; the entirety of our being to Him in dedicated service and pleasing to Him. Using our whole life as a form of sacrifice in reverent worship to the Lord and this can only be achieved through our way of THINKING. What life used to be before you met Christ can’t continue to be the same. In Christ Jesus, everything is new, the old must give way (2 Corinthians. 5:17). A life of worthy and fruitful Christianity calls for discipline in our way of thinking, this is what transformed our lives. The Bible said in the book of 2 Corinthians 3:18 that as we behold Him in his word like a mirror, we are being changed to become more like Him. You become what you feed your mind with as these sprouts your action or decisions in life.

Daily meditation in the word of God is key to a growing life in Christ. Our text says by “renewing” our mind, this verb is a continuous one, it has to be daily and consistent. The more you think anew by His word, the more you are being changed and mature the more. You’re able to see yourself the way God sees you. Don’t be too lazy to get rid of every habit that won’t let you grow, and become mature to be a transformed soul for the Lord, every old habit that needs to die for us to journey right and far with the Lord. We are being enjoined in Matthew 5:29-30 that we should pluck out every character/habit that can deny us of eternity. It might be alcohol, fornication, drugs, gossip, lies, malice, anger, ingratitude, impatient, anxiety or worry, unforgiveness, self-importance, prayerlessness, pride and the likes as the case may be (Galatians 5:19-21). Everything the flesh desires and seeks after but that offends our spirit man must be cut off. You must be disciplined enough to daily modify the flesh. Get into the word, the Bible was written for us as a manual (2 Timothy 3:16). Locate the word that fits the habit you want to change or even learn. Daily meditate on them until your thought or perspective about such habits has changed.

We need to start seeing and thinking the way Christ does, having the mind of Christ which includes a positive outlook in every circumstances thereby giving thanks always (James 1:2-4, Ephesians 5:19-20). Seeing and believing the best of the worst sinner, proving what is acceptable unto the Lord and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather reprove them (Ephesians 5:10-11). Until the old give way to the new in Christ Jesus, our transformations aren’t complete.

Renewing our mind by daily meditation and putting into practice what the word says helps us in exercising our mind to know and prove what is good, acceptable and perfect will of God, thereby helping us to dedicate and set apart our lives as a living sacrifice in reverent worship of the Lord. This is evidence of a transformed life.
