Do you deserve God's blessing? Why do you feel God should defend you? ...what makes you a candidate for God's blessing? It's not just about being a born-again Christian, it goes beyond that. What scars do you have in your Christian walk with God?  Frequently we spend hours crying and praying to God, asking for one thing or the other because we are his children, heir to His kingdom we deserve to be blessed by him. We believe it is our right but the question we need to ask is…'WHAT HAVE WE DONE TO ATTRACT GOD'S BLESSING?'

There are many people who have scars to show in their Christian walk with God...in as much as prayers are a necessity, we must understand that the challenges we face in our Christian walk with God and the lessons we learn in the process of these challenges leave scars. Each challenge, each storm you face in your walk with God is a test you must pass to move to the next class. It is very important to understand that when God picks you for a purpose, the training you go through is never easy. At some point, you may start to feel God has abandoned you but these experiences will not only test your faith but will strengthen you.

When you come to God in prayer, what do you hold on to? ….On what basis do you cry unto him seeking his blessing? The story is told of Abraham in the book of Genesis who is referred to as the father of the faithful. He was ready to sacrifice his only son begotten after several years of waiting for God until God stopped him with a replacement.  On God's instructions, he also left his homeland, not doubting God's plan for him. He worked with God all his life and God fulfilled his promise to make him a father of nations, Gen 21:1-8, 22:1-18.

Brothers and sisters what can you hold on to, what price have you paid in your Christian walk with God that gives you the confidence to ask God to bless you? When the enemy comes like a flood and tries to stop your blessing. Or closes the door against your blessing, can God rebuke the enemy for your sake? Can God defend you? Our God is a mighty God – He will fight for you and destroy your enemies, he will overthrow kingdoms so that the blessings he has prepared for you can reach you. There are times he wants to test how dedicated you are to him before he showers his blessing upon you. Not every challenge is of the devil...God wants soldiers for the kingdom and to become a soldier of Christ you have to go through the training which only the sovereign God can give you.

Job was a faithful and trusted servant of God until the enemy attacked him. (Job 16:19, Job 19: 25) However, the devil had to take permission from God before afflicting Job. Job suffered and lost everything but still remained faithful to God. In the end, God restored him. Another dedicated character in the Bible was Joseph in the book of Exodus who endured all kinds of tribulations before he received his breakthrough. Despite his tribulations, he never turned his back on God. He was always consistent in his walk with God. Gen 37:18-36.

When you are consistent in your service and dedication to God's kingdom, no one can steal your blessings, you can stand in confidence having that knowingness that you have earned every blessing you are asking God for. Let us learn to give the very best of us to God and not be daunted by the storms the enemy throws our way,., then you can proudly receive the blessings that come with being a dedicated child of God.
