The Prophet of God cried in Jeremiah 8vs22 that “Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?” The cry was because there are many wounded Christians in our midst. Many of us are wounded, and we are refusing the healing process and the balm in Gilead.
Many Christians, especially Christian youths and young adults, are bleeding spiritually. Many of these young ones that are Gen Z have been wounded emotionally; the majority of them are morally sick, and they are part of us, they are Christians, and they are not operating optimally because secretly, they are nursing their wound, and the scar they are carrying about.
God is asking you today, through the book of Jeremiah 8:22, 'Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no Physician there?' Why then not come for your perfect healing?
Gilead is a region in the east of Jordan, it's known for its healing resin (that is, a rare, costly ointment used to treat wounds), and the book of Genesis 37vs25 confirmed this. Spiritually, Gilead represents the place of divine healing, while balm spiritually represents God’s provision for restoration and healing. It means the healing touch of God; it also means the flow of power and anointing of God that brings healing and restoration to man’s life.
EXAMPLES OF WOUNDED CHRISTIANS
- Christian youth or adults who have been wounded by sin
- This is the deepest wound a child of God can carry in life. It is the most dangerous of all wounds. Isaiah 1vs4-5. Sin makes man spiritually wounded; it makes you bleed invisibly. Sin is not just an act; it is a condition that corrupts your soul and spirit. It makes your spiritual sensitivity dead; it separates you from God, who is your source.
- The way out is to trace your steps back to God by forsaking your sinful ways; the way out is for you to come back to the throne of mercy, flowing with healing power and grace.
- Christian youth or adults who are brokenhearted.
- These are a set of Christians who have been wounded by betrayal; their hearts have been broken and shattered. They have been wounded by friends and loved ones, and they have been rejected by people who should embrace and encourage them.
- These are a set of Christian youth who have been wounded by failure and loneliness. The Psalmist says in Psalm 147vs3 “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds”. You need to allow the Prince of Peace in your heart and life if you are in this category of people. You need to embrace Him (Jesus Christ) and forgive people who have hurt you in order for healing from the throne of God to flow into your heart. Do not be among the Christians moving around with a sorrowful spirit; stop ignoring God and give Him a chance to minister to your soul.
- Christian youths or adults who have been wounded by the power of darkness. Ephesians 6vs12.
- These are Christians under the bondage of an evil family pattern. Although they have given their lives to Jesus Christ, they may be tongue-speaking Christians, but because they have not allowed the great Physician to penetrate into their lives and background that is why they still remain under the influence and control of evil family patterns.
- They are Christians who are still living under one curse or the other. They are being tormented daily by an evil spirit. Matthew 8vs28-34. The way out here is for you to invite Jesus Christ, the Great Physician, into that situation; you have to be specific about the evil pattern you want Him to deal with in your life and family.
